tidbits

1. New sockasins, bitches! ($2 at Target!)

2. Obligatory photo of Pete

domestic life.

Lately I have been spending more time in the kitchen. It started with the banana blueberry bread I made. It was delicious and healthy. Since then Mary and I have made dinner with Dan a few times, and I've been baking more. Chocolate chip cookies last week. Blueberry muffins this week. I don't really know what's going on. I'm sure I'll be back to my usual diet of cereal and Vitamin Water soon enough.

Mary made the mistake of saying the other day that she wished she could win the lottery. This sparked a casual conversation as to what we would do if we had endless money. This has since launched a full obsession for both of us. We talk about it at work. At dinner. In the car. It's what I put myself to sleep with at night. I am a dangerous dreamer. Initially we said we'd maintain a relatively normal lifestyle if we won the lottery. We'd buy the house next door for Mary, build a breezeway inbetween the houses, and have a fleet of hot guys to do any chores for us. It grows each day. Now we've decided we would need a giant mansion of a house near the river. And an automatic cat box so we could have as many cats as we wanted. Of course we wouldn't work. But we would still thrift shop often because we love a good bargain and I really love finding treasures. Other perks would include a (hot) I.T. guy who would be there to back up all our files for us because we hate that. These are the things we would buy. Cats and hard drives. If you are thinking that we will live in this house together for the rest of our lives alone, you are correct. But at least I'll have a gardener who wears hot pants. (Too bad it will be Mary.)

I made a new blog tonight just for my dreams. http://tinyunicorn.blogspot.com/

Lindsey's blog with the pictures of her room is sweet and make me want to blog about my room. I have a kind of "circus" theme going on right now. (Posters at least.) I got 2 new foam pillows the other day, to add to my ridiculous bed. I also got one of those sleep masks snooty people in movies wear to block out sunlight. I am that person. That pretty much makes me comatose in my bed when I wear that and my earplugs. And if I am sick, add my cocktail of Nyquil and Robitussin and you might as well consider me a dozing corpse. Then don't forget the sound machine, too. If I'm serious about anything, it is sleep. I am investigating taking melatonin as a supplement, which I have heard makes you have more vivid dreams. Matt told me your body releases melatonin when you see the sun going down, which I think is lovely. Anyway, other highlights of my room include the shelf of trinkets and tiny things, the Scoozie pet (aka Squeezil (see shelf)), the straightening iron (essential), Tudi, the flat cat, and the exercise ball (not pictured, but I'm sitting on it now). Also note the pile of jeans on the dresser as I am on the quest for decent jeans. It's hard. One of those pairs was free and I'm pretty much going to hell because of it, but that's another story. The last picture is of me wearing the sockasins. Because I love them no matter what anyone else says. And my ugly pajamas too.

We went duckpin bowling this weekend. Or "tiny bowling" as I prefer to call it. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone should come next time. By the end we weren't really even sure how to keep score so Matt took control and devised a system which seems appropriate for the evening. I'm L. Ron Hubbard.

We hosted girl's night last week to celebrate Shaun's birthday and as a kind of super-belated housewarming. We made brownies and a gross looking dip I saved at the last minute by putting tortilla chips on top. (That would be why I archive my past issues of Martha Stewart, friends.) Mary and I spent 4-5 days cleaning and decorating the house. You have no idea how much crap we have in the attic. If our house was any bigger we'd have to quit our jobs to clean it thoroughly. We also put together Mary's desk. By "we" I mean Dave. I pretty much helped by handing out more hard cider and saying encouraging words. Matt helped by putting a glove on Pete's head. Mary's desk is gigantic. It looks like a control center for a space ship. Made of wood. Pete's been using it instead of mine, which is good. On the downside, he's starting a pyramid scheme involving grey market bandanas and heroin. Maybe that's on the upside, I'm not sure.

christmas and new years are over. i'm pretty excited for 2007. christmas was nice. i got a dishwasher and 2 bird feeders for the house. we're living the high life now. i also got new bedding, which now officially makes my bed the best place ever. the layers of the luxurious bed are as follows: box springs, fabulous mattress, heated mattress pad, feather bed, super nice egyptian cotton sheets, down comforter, old but good comforter, extra comforter, regular pillows (4), down pillows (2), body pillow, mini pillow (for snuggling), stuffed dog, 1-2 cats. it came in handy this weekend when my body decided to reject the idea of fun for new years and i got a cold. i've been making cocktails of nyquil and robotussin. i slept for about 17 hours alone on friday, managed to pull it together to hang out with lindsey on saturday, and have since been on the couch or in bed ever since. i watched hours of ab fab and i really think that show gets funnier the more i watch it. especially when you think think about mary and kate in about 20 years. or maybe me and emily. it was really good to see all the out of towners this week. i can't wait to go to philly to visit lindsey. now it's time to watch goodfellas and work out on the new exercise ball. you know some ridiculous injury will be the subject of the next blog.
